John Madge joined Brownings as a callow youth in October 1980, working as a clerk during the day while studying furiously at night for his professional finals, which he passed in 1981. He then took Articles (the old Training Contract) with the firm before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1983.

John opened the Alcester branch of the firm in June 1990 and has overseen the growth of that branch and the firm’s further expansion to its latest office in Evesham.

John’s background includes wide experience in many areas of law including wills probate and estate planning, family work, commercial property and licensing. However he has found his niche in managing the expanding residential Conveyancing Department throughout all the firm's offices. In particular he takes pride in the Department’s culture of friendly proactive and efficient service aimed at taking the hassle out of the home-moving process.

Married with 4 teenage children (giving him empathy with those who find moving house to be stressful), John is a former Chairman of Alcester Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Director of the South Warwickshire Business Partnership, and is presently the Clerk of his local Parish Council. He has also dabbled in amateur dramatics - his neighbours will not forget his performance as Fairy Liquid in Jack and the Beanstalk!
